Wollemi pines - Wollemia nobilis were thought to be extinct for
two million years. In 1994 a group of researchers were exploring the
canyons of Wollemi in the Australian Blue Mountains, discovered a small
group of them growing. These trees were the last remaining
plants of a species that once formed vast forests in Australia, New
Zealand and Antarctica at the time of the dinosaurs. |

the maidenhair tree, is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. It is found in fossils
dating back 270 million years. Native to China, the tree is
widely cultivated now and was cultivated early in human history. |

Had to wait sometime for a Stratford train, but the
connection at West Hampstead was good. Tiring but excellent
day. |
